And Irving Berlin's "Holiday Inn"

December 3rd through 5th, 2019
3 Days / 2 Nights

About the Trip

After decades of crushing Roman rule, the Hebrew people are losing hope. When will the promised Messiah come? Into the midst of this turmoil, young Mary is told she will bear God’s son. Angels in heaven proclaim his birth; humble shepherds and regal kings pay him homage. Clearly this is no ordinary child! But who is he - really? Is he the Messiah, our Savior? Who can even believe such a thing! Witness the story that is central to the season, brought to life with high drama, awe-inspiring special effects and live animals. Rejoice with your whole family as the true meaning of Christmas unfolds right before your eyes!

Trip Highlights

Tuesday, December 3rd

We begin our travel to Pennsylvania aboard a fully equipped motorcoach. There will be rest stops en route before our afternoon arrival in the heart of Penn Dutch Country, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Settle into the Sleep Inn Hotel in Mountville, Pennsylvania, our home for our adventure in the Dutch Country.

Tonight we enjoy dinner at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre along with their production of Irving Berlin’s “Holiday Inn.” Based on the classic film with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, Holiday Inn is a whole year of holidays in one wonderful musical! It features thrilling dance numbers, laugh-out-loud comedy, and a parade of Irving Berlin hits. Following the show, we head back to the Inn.

Wednesday, December 4th

Enjoy a Deluxe Continental Breakfast at the Hotel followed by a Full-Commentary Back Country Tour of the Farmlands of Lancaster Country. See the life of the Amish from a whole different perspective as our tour director brings their traditions to life on our tour. Multiple stops will be made in the back country for some great shopping, including time at the Kitchen Kettle Shops in Intercourse with ample time for lunch on our own.

Today, travel back over 100 years to a time “before the movies,” when the spellbinding drama and humor of the Showman and the spectacular projected images from his “Magic Lantern Show” dazzled audiences. Legendary story telling skills, rousing music and sing-alongs, dazzling 19th century “special effects”- all combine to create this unique entertainment of Victorian age. The family is very excited, and you will be too, as Grandpa tells fabulous Christmas stories with the help of the amazing Magic Lantern. Later this afternoon we head to Millennium Sight and Sound Theatre for the outstanding, Biblically-based theatrical production of “The Miracle of Christmas” - a truly amazing show for the Christmas season. Dinner this evening is at Plain and Fancy Restaurant - always delightfully delicious.

Thursday, December 5th

Following our Deluxe Continental Breakfast at the Hotel we board the coach bound for “The Sweetest Place on Earth” Hershey’s Chocolate World, the site of the largest chocolate factory in the world. Stops include the Milton Hershey School and Founders Hall and a visit to Hershey Chocolate World. We will have plenty of time to enjoy the riding tour, shop the giant gift galleries and, of course, sample the numerous goodies that are always on sale to satisfy your chocolate cravings. Lunch is on our own. We then head for home with rest stops en route.
